VIRTUAL MEMORY:  

Virtual memory is a feature of an operating system (OS) that allows a computer to 

compensate for shortages of physical memory by temporarily transferring pages of data 

from random access memory(RAM) to disk storage.

In simple meaning we can use free space of hard disk as a ram  

Virtual Memory is one of the vital factor for your system's performance.

In this article I am going to tell you how to increase your virtual memory size which can result in increasing 
performance.

If your computer is slower then one of the most vital causes is the installed RAM. 

If your RAM size is small and you are running more applications at a time, then you may face different problems. 

To avoid such problems windows create a virtual memory space on your HDD and it automatically manages it.

Virtual memory is nothing but the reserved memory space in your HDD to assist RAM.

By increasing the virtual memory available for your system you can increase the performance of your system. 

Please follow the simple steps below to increase your system's performance.

Increasing the virtual memory will increase your performance a bit.

1. Right click on the My Computer and select "Properties"

      

  

2.Click on  “ADVANCE SYSTEM SETTINGS”  located at left side. 

   Under performance click on settings 

3. Another box will appear in that click on “advance”  

4.under virtual memory click on change 

5.In the Advanced tab of Performance Option locate the Virtual Memory group and click on 

"Change" to reach at the "Virtual Memory" Window.

Here you can find the actual size of the virtual memory for your system.

Uncheck the "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives" 

check box to set virtual memory yourself.

6.You can select the drive in which the virtual memory will be created. When you select a particular 

drive the window will show you the free space available on that drive.

7.To set the virtual memory select the desired drive and see the recommended size and currently 

allocated size. 

Then select "Custom size" option. 
Now give a "Initial Size" and "Maximum Size" in MB and click on "Set" to set the virtual memory. 
Then press OK

8.If paging size increases are usually met with a system restart message but decreases it dosen't

 Click on APPLY , Restart your computer

                                                                                                        

9.Restart your computer

10. After restarting your computer your system should now be moving a bit quicker
